Moroccan authorities on Wednesday airlifted the body of an Egyptian mountaineer who fell while climbing a day earlier, state news agency MENA reported
After reaching the summit of Toubkal, the highest peak in the Atlas Mountains, Heba El-Husseni fell into a 400-metre deep hole in a particularly rugged area early on Tuesday
El-Husseini, 30, was an amateur climber who had been mountaineering and parachuting in Africa and Europe.Her companions and their Moroccan guide could see her after the fall but could not reach her, her cousin said
Authorities on Wednesday sent a helicopter rescue team to recover the body."Her body is in the morgue now. We're waiting... we do not know when it is coming back [to Cairo]," the cousin said
Family members said the Egyptian embassy and the Moroccan authorities were very prompt to take action."They were working around the clock to follow up on the situation and provide us with updates," he added,Egypt News
